Parent/teacher conferences are here! The conference report includes end of year expectations at each grade level in the areas of language arts, math, science, social studies, work habits, and social development. There is space for narrative comments and a checklist to explain your child’s progress and goals. Children are assessed using the following scale:
– Consistently: engaging in behavior most of the time
– Some of the Time: engaging in the behavior, but not with regularity
– With Support: engaging in behavior only with the assistance or guidance of the teacher or other instructional staff
– Not Applicable: the behaviors have not yet been taught
We feel it is important to note that in the fall and spring it is likely you will see “Not Applicable” checked in various content areas. We would emphasize that this simply means these behaviors or skills have not yet been taught. Before the year comes to an end, these behaviors and skills are taught and by the final report date you should see the first three descriptors in all categories.
Finally, this report will contain a section labeled, “Specific Agreements and Recommendations.” This is a section that summarizes the agreements and recommendations that you and your child’s teacher discuss during the conference.
It is our goal to have 100% participation in the fall and spring conferences. If you have not had a chance to sign up for a conference time yet, please contact your child’s teacher to set a time and date. As always, thank you for participating in this process and actively showing your support for your child’s education. It is important to us and it is very important to your child. We look forward to seeing you soon!
